OPL Split Two Gauntlet – Recap

After a spectacular gauntlet run, Legacy’s season in the Oceanic Pro League has been brought to an end in the preliminary finals by their old rivals, Chiefs Esports Club.

Only managing to sneak into the finals gauntlet in fifth place, Legacy started the climb at the very bottom of the gauntlet, facing across from their AFL rivals, the Bombers.

In what would become a recurring theme for the gauntlet, superstars Claire and Mimic played well, but it was Decoy, Only, and Raid that would shine brightest for the team.

In the series against the Bombers, Decoy played Rakan in all three matches and blew them away with some spectacular engages, while his partner in crime Raid picked up kill after kill on Swain in games two and three.

Knocking the Bombers out in a clean 3-0 sweep, Legacy then progressed to take on Melbourne super team, ORDER.

Despite coming into the series as underdogs, Mimic put that to rest by styling on his opponent (and former Legacy top laner) Tallywhacka in an insane game one on Gnar.

However, it was Only, who in the grand tradition of Legacy Junglers, completely took ORDER apart in what was a career-defining performance.

With the super team in tatters and a date with Destiny (literally) in their sights, Legacy marched into a matchup as old as the OPL itself, the El-Classico – Legacy vs. the Chiefs.

Though they came out swinging in game one, Legacy’s old rivals were once again able to claim the victory, winning three back to back games to secure a spot in the live finals in Melbourne.

Thank you to all our family, friends and fans for your support of Legacy this year.

It’s been a rollercoaster, but it’s also been one to remember and we can’t wait to get stuck into 2019.
