CS:GO finals at AVCon
Legacy’s CS:GO squad has successfully qualified for the Cyber Gamer Pro League (CGPL) finals, to be played on stage live in Adelaide. Taking place this weekend, the boys will be playing at the annual Anime and Video Game Convention (AVCon) at the Adelaide Convention Centre. Entering as the second seed behind the Chiefs Esports Club, Legacy will go head to head with SYF Gaming in the upper bracket semi-final, while Chiefs take on Avant Gaming. The tournament will be held in a double-elimination format, with all teams fighting for a share of the AUD$15,000 prize pool. AVCon is anticipated to attract 18,000+ attendees, and technology conference Hybrid World Adelaide will take place alongside AVCon this year. Current ladder leaders Grayhound Gaming have been listed as disqualified and will not attend. Rift Rivals Champions!
Legacy Esports was an integral part of Oceania’s first ever international victory, combining with The Chiefs and Dire Wolves to take out Rift Rivals 2018. Once a year, the various regions of the world matchup with their closest competitors in a series of tournaments for Rift Rivals. Matched up against Japan (LJL) and South-East Asia (SEA), last year’s tournament in Vietnam saw Oceania (OCE) fall in the Gauntlet stage and finish last, but held in Sydney in 2018, a very different result occurred. The tournament began with the group stage, where the first and second seeded teams from each region played four games, and the third seed played two. As third seed for OCE, Legacy played twice in the group stage, with one game against the LJL’s Unsold Stuff Gaming and another against SEA’s Mineski.
