Overwatch Bootcamp

Legacy Esports’s new look Overwatch team has done some major bonding recently, meeting up for a five-day long bootcamp. Team members Straawbella, Cinderella, Caramelkoala, Skull, Wuvo and Dench, along with support staff Volt and Racquet, stayed in the same apartment and trained every day from 1pm – 1am in the Net Café VIP room. Every day they would cook breakfast together, and would go out for meals, spending quality time as a team. Although 12 hours of training every day sounds like a long time, team captain Straawbella said it didn’t seem like half a day. “It actually went by pretty fast with the team,” she said. One afternoon, Legacy booked them into a Virtual Reality room called Mind Horror as a teamwork activity. “It was a good event for us that required everyone to work as a team in order to reach the objective,” Straawbella said. “There were plenty…

BAM10 Results

Last weekend saw some of the best Smash players in Oceania fighting it out at Battle Arena 10 in Melbourne, and Legacy’s resident smash expert Miles “DonB” Dobney was in the thick of it. Having only just moved back to Australia after living in the United States, DonB felt very motivated playing in front of his home crowd. “I’m facing off against people I’ve played with since I began to get serious with Melee and some rivalries or goals I have here span years,” DonB said. “Another thing that adds to the feeling of immediacy is that the top is so much closer here and it feels like with a few improvements to my game I could beat anyone.” DonB got off to a great start in the pool stage, knocking out both ‘Emps’ and ‘Trinick Sama’ 2-0 to advance to the top 64. In the 64-man bracket DonB continued…

Getting to know the Legacy Rocket League players

Nathan “cyrix” Baxter The jack-of-all-trades, cyrix has been gaming since the days of the PlayStation One, playing classics like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro. Transferring his growing hand eye coordination to Call of Duty, cyrix played competitively for the games lifespan, before moving on to play Rocket League. Previously playing under the banners of Abyss Esports and Avant Gaming, cyrix has placed between second and fourth in several major tournaments. Hungry for the success that’s eluded him for so long, cyrix is determined to lead Legacy to victory. Christopher “Siki” Magee Legacy’s 1v1 Specialist, Siki started out playing Runescape back in 2007 but decided to pick up Rocket League. Originally playing under the organisations Ripple and Corvidae, Siki made the switch to Avant Gaming and played with cyrix and ellusive for RLOC season 4. New Rocket League partnership

Legacy Esports has entered into a partnership with Ground Zero, where Legacy’s Rocket League players will play for Ground Zero in an upcoming tournament. Nathan “cyrix” Baxter, Aiden “delusion” Hendry and Christopher “Siki” Magee will represent Ground Zero for eight weeks. This partnership will give those three players valuable LAN experience and more opportunities for player development. Siki, cyrix and delusion will return home to Legacy in time for several future planned tournaments, but more importantly their second RLCS campaign later in the year.

Reflecting on IEM Sydney

IEM Sydney was one of the biggest weeks of the year for Legacy Esports, competing in two games at the event and announcing some new faces along the way. The week started with the brilliant news that our CS:GO team would be a late call-up for IEM, replacing Space Soldiers, who couldn’t attend the tournament because of visa issues. After close losses against Renegades and Order, the team couldn’t progress any further and was eliminated in 13-16th place. Legacy’s Head of Esports, Tim Wendel, explains that competing in the event was still an incredible opportunity. Later in the week, Faze Clan emerged as champions of the tournament, beating Astralis in the grand final. “I thought both games were really competitive, and the team got the opportunity to basically bootcamp for a week playing against the best players in the world,” Wendel said. “They are super grateful for the opportunity and…

Farewell, SMITE.

Today we bid farewell to Legacy SMITE. Business Manager Michael Carmody, who was on board of the team’s journey from the beginning, has written a few words about the team and their time under Legacy.   Over two years ago, through the introduction of a man still prominent in Aussie esports, I started the first steps in a long journey that is AU Smite. DJDan, as he was initially known to me, convinced me of an up and coming team that needed some structure and support to really make an impact in the scene.   That first season we picked up a team (OnlyGoodAtSolo, Shred, Weave, Agony and Hs247, ably constructed and managed by Dukey) that had performed very well online, and it was my personal aim to get them to LAN, and start to build the experience that is very much needed when new teams get together…

OCS Roster 2018

Legacy veterans Tim “Carbon” Wendel and An “Minkywhale” Trinh will lead a young and developing team in 2018’s Oceanic Challenger Series. Luke “Holo” Scott, William “Crayzee” Dobie, Huy “Busybooboo” Huynh and sub David “Beats” Nguyen-Dang will compete alongside Carbon and Minkywhale for Legacy Genesis. Legacy are the only Oceanic Pro League team who have played in every season of OCS, which features the best amateur teams in Oceania. Over 13 weeks, 14 teams will battle it out for the chance to challenge for an OPL spot in 2019.

Welcome, Only

Legacy Esports has made a change to its League of Legends roster, with jungler Jordan “Only” Middleton joining the team to replace Lachlan “Sybol” Civil who has departed the roster after five months. Only has transferred from Avant Gaming, where he played Split One of the Oceanic Pro League, and has signed a two year deal with Legacy. A player known for his counter jungling, particularly on Nidalee and Graves will bring a new dynamic to the roster. As one of the strongest up and coming junglers in Oceania, Only will join a Legacy roster of Claire, Mimic, Raid and Decoy. Fans will see Only in action for Legacy when Split Two of the OPL gets underway in June, and when he competes in Rift Rivals later this year.

Farewell, Sybol

Lachlan “Sybol” Civil was part of the League of Legends team that finished in third position after the gauntlet in Split One of the Oceania Pro League. After significant roster changes from 2017, Sybol came into the Legacy team offering a wealth of experience to the new look Legacy Roster. Sybol had a slow start but had a number of breakout games toward the end of the split, particularly against Order in week 8 and during the Gauntlet. Legacy Esports wishes to thank Sybol for his services and wishes him all the best for his future endeavours.
